Madrid (EFE).- Almost half a million voters residing in Spain have voted by mail, 20% of the 2.4 million people who have requested this type of procedure in the July 23 elections, according to data provided CCOO.
With 8 days to go until the end of the term to be able to cast a vote by mail at post offices, there are already 480,000 voters who have exercised their right to vote.
Although the official numbers of votes cast will be released by the Post Office on July 21, one day after the end of the term to be able to vote, union sources have advanced that almost a quarter of the applicants for a mail vote have already cast it since the July 3 will open the date to go to the offices.
The same sources stress that voting by mail will set a historical record in these elections, since it will exceed the mark of 1.4 million that were reached in the 2016 general elections, and will “far exceed” almost one million postal votes. that occurred in the 2019 elections.
The deadline for requesting this type of vote ends tomorrow, Thursday, and the Post Office has reported today that despite the “high influx” of people who want to request it, attention in the offices is developing with “absolute normality” and they are complying with the “legally established” deadlines.
The request can be made electronically on the Correos website or in person, but always with supporting identification.
From last day 3 to next day 16, the electoral censuses have a deadline to send the electoral documentation to the Post Office to deliver to users and the period enabled to vote in offices is until next day 20.
Citizens can choose the postal address to which they want all the documentation to be sent and cast their vote at any Post Office.
