Madrid (EFE).- A total of 420 cinemas, with more than 3,000 theaters throughout Spain, have joined the Government promotion plan so that people over 65 can attend the cinema one day a week for a price Reduced entry of two euros from today.
This is 64.22% of the private establishments that were estimated to be eligible for this direct aid to encourage the return of the public to theaters after the pandemic, including the popular Yelmo, Kinépolis, Ocine, Artesiete, Axion, Cinesa theaters , Verdi, Renoir or Odeon.
Together, there are more than 3,000 projection screens distributed throughout the territory, which are asked to preferably reduce the price of admission on Tuesdays (the day that will go to the weekend if the theaters only open on Saturday and Sunday or if they close on Tuesday).
By Autonomous Communities, there will be 77 cinemas from all the provinces of Andalusia, 16 in Aragon, 6 in Asturias, 4 in Cantabria, 17 in Castilla-La Mancha, 27 in Castilla y León, 76 in Catalonia, the Marina Cinema in Ceuta, 44 in the Madrid Community, 56 in the Valencian Community, 8 in Extremadura, 17 in Galicia, 12 in the Balearic Islands, 11 in the Canary Islands, three in La Rioja, the Perelló cinema theater in Melilla, 10 in Murcia, 7 in Navarra, and 29 in the Country Basque.
According to data from the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA), it is estimated that 9.5 million people over the age of 65 will be able to benefit, one of the segments of the cultural sector most affected by the pandemic.

People aged 65 or over are the age group that is taking the longest to resume pre-pandemic movie-going habits, the ministry says.
49.3 percent of young people between the ages of 20 and 24 went to the cinema at least once a year between 2021 and 2022, a percentage that falls to 6 percent in the older population.
The program has a budget of 10 million euros under the General State Budget for 2023, which the Government will subsidize depending on the difference between its ordinary price and the reduced price of two euros, with a maximum eligible amount of three euros per ticket. . Once the subsidy is awarded, the payment will be made bimonthly.
This subsidy is compatible with other aid from any administration or public or private entity that have the same purpose: to promote access to movie theaters.
