Toledo (EFE).- The president of the Community Board, Emiliano García-Page, has recognized the work of his previous Governing Council. His previous government has faced “very hard” years in a legislature that is also “helpful”.
García-Page has highlighted the work of the advisers who have accompanied him in the 2019-2023 Legislature in the act of inauguration of the new regional Executive, in which he has introduced up to six changes, so that only the first vice president, José Luis Martínez Guijarro, and five other directors.
The inauguration ceremony, which was held this Tuesday at the Fuensalida Palace in Toledo – seat of the Presidency – was attended by the new councilors and the majority of the outgoing ones.
Before them, García-Page has acknowledged that he has suffered “an outrage” by signing the dismissals, because “it is not a problem of merit.” He has also highlighted that he works “with a family mentality”.
A “profitable” Legislature
“Between us we maintain an element of cordiality, affability, dedication”, stressed the Castilian-Manchegan president, who has defined his Governing Council as “a family cooperative”, in which “all the pieces have fitted together and the government has given what he could give and much more”.
Thus, García-Page recalled that these years were “very hard” due to the pandemic. Even so, he has rejected that the Government has suffered more than the rest of the citizenry.
He has also highlighted that it has been an “enormously profitable” Legislature in terms of learning, in which the previous Executive also “has demonstrated the ability to listen and ambition for the region beyond any discussion.”
“I don’t think there is a single issue in four years that has been of strategic interest to this land that has caught the government I preside off guard or in profile,” García-Page has claimed.
He has also highlighted that on issues such as natural resources or water and “when in doubt, it has always opted for what was most interesting in the region.”
Page believes that the absolute majority is an “endorsement”
For this reason, he stressed that the absolute majority achieved by the PSOE in the regional elections on May 28, with 45 percent of the vote cast, is “an enormous endorsement of the management” of the outgoing government, which has achieved “one of the highest percentages in Spain and in truly hostile environmental conditions, if not impossible”.
With everything and despite “the tricks of the electoral legislation” that the autonomous community currently has, he stressed that “you must always aspire to win the elections, not add as you can, because adding from scraps is subtracting” .
Although he has affirmed that if the result had been different, he would have recognized the legitimacy of that other government.
He has stressed that “this is not a base on which to build”, because “you cannot work so that at the last moment, everything depends on a lucky, random factor”.
And he stressed that as president, he must analyze what has been done and also “see what are the necessary pieces for the gear, the fuel for the machinery and, ultimately, gain momentum” for the new period that is beginning. EFE
