Madrid (EFE).- The first thematic debate organized by the EFE Agency before the next general elections will examine today, Tuesday, the green commitments of the main political formations at the national level.
This is the first forum to be held between July 11 and 17 under the name “EFE Forum 23J”, on the axes of the environment, foreign policy, economy and equality, with prominent representatives of the four largest political organizations -PSOE, PP , VOX and Sumar- and the collaboration of the “la Caixa” Foundation and the Ortega-Marañón Foundation.
Each debate will be structured around four blocks of questions and will be broadcast live in its entirety to subscribers through EFE channels and, to the general public, via YouTube and social networks.
The representatives of the invited political parties
The representatives of the political parties invited to the first of these forums are the president of the PSOE and vice president of the Senate, Cristina Narbona; the candidate for the Senate for the PP and former Minister of the Environment, Housing and Agriculture in Madrid, Paloma Martín Martín; the VOX deputy and spokesman for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food in the Congress of Deputies, Ricardo Chamorro; and the political scientist Julia Boada, number 1 on the Add for Girona to Congress list.
The debate will be held at CaixaForum Madrid, moderated by EFEverde journalist Pedro Pablo May and the president of the Association of Environmental Information Journalists (APIA), María García de la Fuente, and will focus on the environmental challenges facing Spain, distributed in four sections: water, renewable energy and nuclear; sustainable mobility; biodiversity; and climate change.
Ecological transition and sustainability
Issues related to the energy transition, sustainability and Nature, among others, have gained strength on the political agenda in recent years and, in Spain, especially during the last legislature with the appointment of the Minister for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge , Teresa Ribera, as Vice President of the Government.
On Wednesday, July 12, the second debate on foreign policy will be held from the headquarters of the European Parliament in Strasbourg (France), on Thursday the 13th the third on the economy from the Ortega-Marañón Foundation in Madrid and on Monday the 17th the fourth and last on politics of equality again from the Madrid headquarters of CaixaForum Madrid.
This initiative responds to “the Agency’s obligation and vocation for public service”, as stated by the president of EFE, Gabriela Cañas, recalling the need to “contribute to precise and direct information for citizens on the specific proposals of these parties in four key areas.
