Vitoria (EFE).- People over 65 will be able to go to the cinema for 2 euros in 28 theaters in Euskadi.
There have been 28 theaters in Euskadi that have joined the promotion plan of the central government so that people over 65 can attend the cinema.
It is one day a week for a reduced price of 2 euros for admission, starting tomorrow, July 11.
By province, in Bizkaia there are 14 theaters attached to the initiative, in Gipuzkoa 11 and in Álava 3.
More than three thousand rooms in Spain for 2 euros for seniors
In Spain as a whole, 420 cinemas, with more than 3,000 rooms, offer people over 65 the chance to go to the cinema for 2 euros.
They are asked to preferably reduce the price on Tuesdays.
This day will go to the weekend if the rooms only open on Saturday and Sunday or if they close on Tuesday).
Those 420 cinemas are 64% of the private establishments that were estimated to be eligible for these direct aids.
Among them, the popular Yelmo, Kinépolis, Ocine, Artesiete, Axion, Cinesa, Verdi, Renoir or Odeon rooms.
According to data from the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA), it is estimated that 9.5 million people over the age of 65 will benefit throughout the country, one of the segments of the cultural sector most affected by the pandemic.
People 65 years of age or older are the age group that is taking the longest to resume their pre-pandemic movie-going habits.
Only 6 percent of the oldest go to the movies
49.3 percent of young people aged 20 to 24 went to the cinema at least once a year between 2021 and 2022.
The percentage drops to 6 percent in the older population.
The program has a budget of 10 million euros in charge of the General State Budget 2023.
The Government will subsidize depending on the difference between the ordinary price and the reduced price of two euros.
It will have a maximum eligible amount of three euros per entry. EFE
