Castelló (EFE).- Agents of the Civil Guard have reduced this morning, with several shots to the legs, a man who had entered a pub in the municipality of Coves de Vinromà (Castellón) with a knife and pounced on them when they were about to arrest him.
According to sources from the Civil Guard have informed EFE, the agents have received a notice, around 07:00 hours, that a man was inside an entertainment venue destroying the furniture and carrying a knife in his hands. .
The 32-year-old man of North African origin had thrown several bottles and tried to steal the mobile phone of the owner of the premises.
Destruction inside a pub and in a vehicle
When the agents arrived at the scene, the man was no longer inside the establishment and was located nearby, where he had also caused damage to a vehicle.
When proceeding to his arrest, the man has rushed knife in hand against the agents, who have been forced to carry out, in order to reduce him, two shots that have impacted him in the lower extremities.
Custody in a hospital
The same sources report that the man has been transferred to a hospital and is recovering from his injuries, and there is no risk to his life. He is detained and guarded by Civil Guard agents at the hospital.
He is charged as the alleged perpetrator of attacking authority, serious disturbance of public order and robbery with violence, and the hypothesis of a possible jihadist act is ruled out.
