Madrid (EFE).- The polarization and confrontation between blocks mark the general election campaign, in which the PP, like Vox, aspires to change while the left of PSOE and Sumar intends to overcome the polls and retain power.
Alberto Núñez Feijóo’s call to repeal sanchismo, which Vox falls short of, and Pedro Sánchez’s warning that the sum of PP and Vox is far-right, Trumpist and a threat to women and the LGTBI collective have starred and They will star in an atypical and heatwave campaign that catches half the country on vacation.
And that it has taken the parties by surprise, which did not expect the electoral advance. Each one faces this coup with their particular strategy, with which Sánchez has sought to save the PSOE the wear and tear due to the victory of the PP on 28M and focus on the autonomous pacts between PP and Vox.
PSOE
To prevent the polls that predict a change of government from being correct, the PSOE has opted for television and radio, in which both Sánchez and former president José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero multiply to dismantle the idea of ”sanchismo”, which they describe as “monster with seven heads” invented by the PP, Vox and their related media.
Without straining the party with many rallies in the middle of summer, and having canceled some act, Sánchez has also sought a melee with Feijóo, who has only granted him a face-to-face debate.
In his electoral speech, the PSOE candidate has distanced himself from his government partner, Podemos, and from parliamentary partners such as ERC and EH Bildu, while exhibiting harmony with Yolanda Díaz so that the alliance between the two allows the progressive government to be reissued.
Sánchez thus looks at the electorate of the center, at the same time that he defends the advances of his mandate and keeps the ranks of the PSOE tight against the pressure of the PP, which asks them to abstain.
PP
With the organization very mobilized and despite the summer period, the PP will be at street level and will visit all the autonomies. Feijóo’s route, which his team has not fully revealed, is subject to changes to tighten in the most disputed territories, and includes both the autonomies governed by Vox and weak points such as the Basque Country or Catalonia.
Barons like Isabel Díaz Ayuso and former presidents José María Aznar or Mariano Rajoy will also have a leading role.
Addressing a moderate and centrist electorate, Feijóo has clarified that although he promises to repeal sanchismo, he will maintain what is right, such as the labor reform, which the PP opposed.
It also highlights his appeal to the useful vote to achieve the goal of 150 seats and not have to govern in coalition with Vox. Feijóo also promotes his management experience and repeatedly warns that the economy is not going like a motorcycle.
Vox
“Discursive coherence”, a campaign full of rallies and presence in the media and on social networks is the recipe with which Santiago Abascal hopes to enter the Government.
Vox will repeat the message with which they have maintained continuous growth since they broke into the institutions five years ago: the PP by itself does not guarantee reversing “progressive” policies.
Vox promises to reverse the “damage” that in his opinion Sánchez has done to women with the law of only yes is yes, to freedom with that of historical memory or private property and life with housing, abortion or euthanasia regulations .
With its defense of the sovereignty and unity of Spain, border control to fight against illegal immigration or the suppression of subsidies to unions, it is also at stake to continue as a third political force.
summer
For rallies, but only in its potential fishing grounds, Sumar opts. Yolanda Díaz will go to fifteen cities in highly urbanized areas and only in those constituencies where Unidas Podemos, Más País or Compromís won seats in 2019, without stepping foot in any of the 22 provinces with the lowest population density.
His campaign mixes the projection of his personal image, associated with the labor reform or the increase in the interprofessional minimum wage, with electoral promises, such as the reduction of electoral days or the controversial proposal of a universal inheritance of 20,000 euros for those who turn 18 .
Sumar also seeks that the tortuous process of gestation of the candidacy is not an obstacle and remains in the past, with acts in which Ada Colau, Alberto Garzón, Mónica García or the general secretary of Podemos, Ione Belarra, will be present, but not the main victim of the pact with the purple, the Minister of Equality Irene Montero, who was removed.
Both will throw the rest in the campaign, aware that both the successes and, above all, the errors count in a period in which up to 35% of the population decide their vote and to which the unknown about the participation is added. July 23th.
