Seville (EFE).- Real Betis has announced this Wednesday the extension for one more year, until June 2026, of the contract that unites it with the Chilean coach Manuel Pellegrini, who is preparing to begin his fourth season as the club’s technical manager sevillian.
The surprise announcement from Betis came when the team is already traveling to Wolfsburg (Germany) to undertake the first concentration of the Betic preseason, until July 15, and when there were other names that appeared in pools and those already confirmed, as the case of the center-back Édgar González, who has stayed in Seville to finalize his transfer to Almería.
The Betic club, aware of the surprise, has highlighted in its media that “this”, in reference to the renewal of the coach, “you did not see it coming” and has described the continuity of the man from Santiago as “bombshell” and “the best content that you will see today’.
Pellegrini, who will turn 70 in September, arrived at Betis in the summer of 2020 and, in his three seasons at the entity, he has won a Copa del Rey and has managed to qualify the béticos on three consecutive occasions for a European competition, a an unprecedented event in the history of the club.
The Santiago coach is the sixth manager who has directed the most official matches in the history of Betis, 148, with a balance of 73 wins (49%), 36 draws (24%) and 39 losses (27%).
