Toledo (EFE).- The candidate to preside over Castilla-La Mancha, Emiliano García-Page, has presented himself as the head of a government where moderation will prevail. Thus, he has determined that there will be no room for “frontism, social hatred and no cheap populism.”
In his investiture speech, which lasted almost two and a half hours, García-Page asked for the confidence of the deputies of the regional Parliament.
In case of being invested, as planned, it will be for the third consecutive time, even if it is “prevented” for the opposition.
Thus, he has stated that his management “endorses” the credibility of the government program that he has proposed for the different areas of government, which he will implement “using moderation” without making “cheap regionalism.”
The socialist leader has the majority support of the chamber after revalidating the absolute majority in the elections on May 28.
There he has asked that “no one be afraid” of the Community Board once it takes office this Saturday and that no one consider themselves an “enemy” of this government.
In this way, he has raised the idea that Castilla-La Mancha is a “window of understanding”, where social spending is protected “for much longer”.
A social expense that is going to be guaranteed, he has promised, on the basis of economic growth and employment.
“There is plenty of political frontism here,” he stated, an issue that he considered essential so that social hatred does not spread in this land.
In short, he has promised to be a “radically moderate” president for the next four years, while also being “very firm” in defending the interests of the region.
In any case, he has ensured that only the interests of Spain are placed ahead of the interests of Castilla-La Mancha.
But he has qualified that it is a Spain in which “everyone” has to fit, because “there is no single Spain”, and he has shown himself opposed to “manufacturing a country model in which only a few fit”.
He proposes to continue with his “change project”
For all these reasons, he has asked for the support of the chamber to continue with “the project of change” that he began eight years ago, with the aim that “the change is not interrupted”.
“I am not a conformist politician. If someone expects a mere continuity, they are going to be wrong, I am going to continue to keep changing things ”, she assured.
And he has outlined a government program “achievable in four years and that is coherent in eight years”, since he has considered “reasonable to look forward, to go as far as possible, not to have a short-term goal.”
However, he has been convinced that it is a government program that “will surely fall short.” For this reason, he has affirmed that it is a “minimum” program.
Among other measures, it has defended the need to reform the Statute of Autonomy to increase the number of deputies.
It is currently at 33 after the reform that the PP approved alone with María Dolores de Cospedal as Castilian-Manchegan president.
What he has defined as a “democratic shame”.
Page will not go back “not one millimeter” in Equality
He has also ensured that the region will not go back “not one millimeter” in terms of Equality, which will continue to maintain the rank of Councilor.
“Equality is what I am here for,” the president-elect has assured.
García-Page has reserved the Equality block to put the finishing touch on her speech, in which she has asked to “recognize” that part of the injustices suffered by women originates “in the attitude of people.”
For this reason, he has advocated correcting the trend that half the population may have more privileges than the other half through stimulus measures for the next four years, which will form the “backbone” of his new government.
García-Page has ensured that his proposed measures on Equality, such as ending the wage gap in the next Legislature, do not constitute “a false populism”.
70% of Page’s budget for social spending
It has also launched proposals for public employment, such as the call for 12,000 jobs for the entire Legislature: 5,000 in health and 3,000 in education. He is also going to create “microcredits” to help opponents.
In health, it will approve a law guaranteeing maximum times and extending to 40 the diagnoses that are reached with the heel test.
In education, he has advocated developing a plan for the air conditioning of educational centers against heat.
And in social welfare, expand the users of teleassistance and reach 100,000 dependency benefits.
The debate will continue in the Castilla-La Mancha Parliament this Thursday with the intervention of the parliamentary groups -Vox, PP and PSOE-.
It will end with the vote in which García-Page will foreseeably be sworn in as president of Castilla-La Mancha for the third consecutive time. EFE
