At the moment, 146 sentences have been reviewed in Euskadi.
They have resulted in 42 reductions by the Provincial Court of Bizkaia, 13 in Álava and 9 in Gipuzkoa.
These minor sentences have led to the release of 6 sexual offenders from prison in Bizkaia and 2 in Álava.
In addition, the Superior Court of Justice has reduced 3 sentences under this law and has released one prisoner.
In Spain as a whole, at least 1,155 sentence reductions have been agreed, which have led to 117 releases.
These are data collected by the CGPJ from the information collected from the Supreme Court, the National Court, the higher courts of Justice and the provincial courts.
Therefore, they do not include reviews that may have been processed by criminal courts.
These are competent to prosecute crimes against sexual freedom punishable by up to five years in prison.
The Supreme Court has reduced 31 sentences; the National Court, 1; the higher courts of Justice, 145, which have resulted in 10 releases; and the provincial courts, 978.
They have led to the early release of 107 sexual offenders from prison. EFE
