Gimenells (Lleida) (EFE).- The leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, mocked this Saturday that the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, said on Thursday in Brussels that the Spanish economy is going like a motorcycle, and has said that if it goes like a motorcycle it is “broken down, without brakes, without wheels and without gasoline.”
Feijóo pointed out during a PP rally in Gimenells, an agricultural town in the west of the province of Lleida, that Spain is the second country that has grown the least in the EU since 2019 and the one that has increased its debt the most, therefore, he ironized, “thank goodness they consider it to be like a motorcycle”.
The electoral candidate of the PP has also referred to the message that Sánchez sends this Saturday from Kiev of commitment to Ukraine in the war, at the beginning of the semester of the Spanish presidency of the European Council, to indicate that he is “taken as a joke” in the EU because “part of their ministers” want to leave NATO.
“He is a president who is not capable of silencing his government while he speaks,” he said in that sense, while also criticizing Sánchez for “accepting impositions” from the Catalan and Basque sovereignists.
He stressed that he, as a Galician, is “peripheral and bilingual”, for which he added: “Don’t count on me to make centralist policies when I get to the Government of Spain.”
Of course, he has added that “not to accept impositions from anyone”, because “we are all equal and those who want to eat alone want to eat more”, and, therefore, that no one counts on him either “to break the unity of Spain”.
Agrifood and hydrological policy
“I will not be Pedro Sánchez, someone different is necessary and that is me”, concluded Feijóo, who has focused his speech on agri-food and hydrological policy and indicated that the PP wants there to be a national water pact and an investment of 40,000 million in hydraulic infrastructures in the next six years.
Also less taxes, measures to reinforce the primary sector and an improvement in the functioning of the food chain, for which it relies on the advice of the sectors involved, for which it advocates specific strategic plans.
He pointed out that this week “while others went from set to set”, in reference to the television interviews with Sánchez, he has starred in meetings in the financial, cultural and demographic fields, in addition to the present agri-food event in Gimenells, because he wants contact with unions and not a policy turned into “a bubble”, like “a fronton against reality”.
In the last five years, Feijóo has said in another reference to the Sánchez governments, “frivolity has taken over politics”, because “the important thing is to make a good tweet”, and “people who do not know speak and send ”.
For this reason, in his opinion, the agri-food sector “is one of the great victims of ‘sanchismo'”, being “discriminated against” “from a political point of view” and in the distribution of European funds.
The PP act in Gimenells was held outdoors, next to an agricultural scale, with a vast cornfield in the background, and Feijóo has been introduced to him by the mayor, Dante Pérez, who heads the candidacy for the party Congress for Lleida and has underlined that “the problem of the rural world is the same throughout the Spanish geography”, with the drought in the first place.
Before his address, Feijóo also witnessed a debate between representatives of various sectoral business organizations: the agricultural company Asaja, the beef cattle rancher Asoprovac, the fruit and vegetable exporter Fepex, the distributor Asedas and the fodder industry Aefa.
