Seville, (EFE).- The Junta has launched a campaign in which it breaks down the keys to avoid heat stroke in the workplace, an initiative that coincides with the high temperatures, with extreme levels in some areas of the region.
The Ministry of Employment, Business and Self-Employment, through the Andalusian Institute for Occupational Risk Prevention (IAPRL), activates the campaign to raise awareness in the workplace of companies and workers regarding the risk of heat stress in Andalusia.
The campaign, which is already running on radio, local television, the digital press and social networks, to raise awareness about the causes and symptoms that can lead to heat stroke, which can have fatal consequences in the worst case.
In addition, it includes a series of recommendations to prevent both before and during the working day.
With the title “In the face of heat, prevention” and the slogan “Some blows in life can be avoided”, the IAPRL disseminates this campaign through a radio spot, informative videos or posters in which they collect tips to overcome heat stress such as staying hydrated by drinking fluids regularly, avoiding the hours of greatest exposure to the sun or with rest patterns.
Dehydration and heat stroke
In periods of strong heat, the physiological adaptation mechanisms of the human body are put into operation, but there are limits beyond which the risks to health are significant, especially when other aggravating factors converge, such as heavy tasks or work in the outside.
Symptoms such as fatigue, dry skin, headaches, dizziness and muscle ramps can be precursors to other more important ones such as dehydration and heat stroke.
And, in addition, in collaboration with the General Directorate of Labor, Safety and Occupational Health, the IAPRL organizes in the eight provinces of Andalusia some technical conferences on risks and preventive measures against thermal stress due to heat for professionals in Occupational Risk Prevention, businessmen, middle managers or directors, among others.
