US authorities opened a high-level investigation, known as a Marine Board of Investigation (MBI), on Sunday to investigate the submersible accident.
In the statement, the head of the MBI, Captain Jason Neubauer, indicated that the recovered evidence will provide “critical” information to investigators from “various jurisdictions” who are investigating the cause of this tragedy, but he specified that the work has not finished. .
“There is still a substantial amount of work to be done to understand the factors that led to Titan’s catastrophic loss and to help ensure that a similar tragedy does not happen again,” Neubar said in the statement.
Investigations in Canada
This finding occurred the same day that another part of the remains of the submersible arrived in Canada, recovered by the Canadian company to which the Polar Prince, the Titan’s mother ship, also belongs.
With these remains, the Canadian authorities are also carrying out investigations to determine the causes of the incident.
