Pamplona, (EFE).- The Parliament of Navarra has placed a rainbow canvas on its main façade, on the occasion of International LGTBI+ Pride Day, which Vox has demanded be removed “immediately”.
The rainbow flag distinguishes the movement that defends equality, respect, diversity, freedom and non-discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.
Under the agreement of January 23, 2023, which authorizes the commemoration of international, world and national days in favor of different social and health initiatives whenever there is a request, in this case of Kattalingorri the Provincial Legislature joins this for another year celebration.
On this day, the Stonewall riots (1969) are evoked, which confronted the gay community with the police in the New York neighborhood of Greenwich.
In this way, as the Chamber underlines in a statement, it reaffirms its commitment to the rights, freedoms and well-being of LGTBI+ people and the inclusion of sexual and gender diversity.
Vox denounces a “partisan use” of the Chamber
Before the placement of the flag in the Foral Parliament, where Vox is present for the first time, its spokesperson, Maite Nosti, has denounced the “partisan use” of the Chamber “at the dictation of the LGTBI lobby.”
He has considered “especially serious” that his parliamentary group has not even been notified of this decision, alleging “an agreement of January 23, 2023, the date on which Vox was not part of this Parliament.”
For this reason, he considers that “it is intended to exclude Vox from the operation and day-to-day of this institution, which is a lack of respect for our more than 14,000 voters.”
Nosti states that “homosexual people have the same rights as other citizens, as it should be” but criticizes that “the LGTBI lobby tries to make people believe that in Spain homosexuals live worse than in Saudi Arabia, Iran or Yemen”. EFE.
