Logroño, (EFE).- The municipal government (PP) of Logroño has once again placed the rainbow flag on the facade of the City Hall after removing it five hours earlier due to a legal claim by the Christian Lawyers association against the Logroño City Council.
In a note, the local Executive of the Logroño City Council, where there is an absolute majority of the PP, has decided to hang the flag again after speaking with the LGTBI+ collective.
This flag was placed on the town hall balcony last Friday, June 23, after an act with members of the Gylda LGTBI+ association, in which the mayor of Logroño, the popular Conrado Escobar, participated.
Legal security
The municipal government of the capital of Rioja has explained that, after registering a claim by Christian Lawyers against the City Council, the banner has been withdrawn in order to “maintain legal certainty”, after verifying that there were Supreme Court rulings against the placement of unofficial flags outside public buildings.
As it did on the 23rd, the local Executive of the Logroño City Council has reiterated its “indisputable support and support” for the group, on the eve of the celebration of the International LGTBI+ Pride Day 2023.
In the act last Friday, he recalled, it was stressed that this flag represented “a recognition of freedom, respect, dignity and the celebration of a diverse city and coexistence, and against any type of violence”.
The municipal government has advanced that contacts will be initiated with the spokespersons of the municipal groups to establish a protocol for the use of this type of symbols on the facade of the Logroño City Hall.
Finally, he has appealed for “peaceful coexistence” and not to generate “tension” with these issues, so that Logroño continues to be a “tolerant and supportive” city.
