Specifically, the Board of the Alhambra and the Generalife has sold during this 2023 almost 1.3 million tickets. A figure that is based on a semester with an average occupancy rate above 95% and similar to the pre-pandemic stage.
According to sources from the monumental complex, historically the most visited in the country, 1,294,268 visitors have toured the Alhambra since the beginning of the year and until last Sunday. Although its maximum capacity allowed is 2,763,500 people per year.
This 2023 figure translates into the sale these six months of more than 95% of the available capacity. Thus exceeding the data for the first half of 2022, which remained at 82%, according to the same sources.
These data are similar to those prior to the pandemic and consolidate the monumental complex as a heritage and tourist benchmark.
For this summer, the Alhambra adds a complete cultural program that includes guided tours, concerts. Workshops, theater and exhibitions, among other proposals, with the aim of bringing heritage closer to the public.
The Mosque-Cathedral, to exceed two million
The Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba is at 92% of visits compared to its best year, which was the one before the pandemic. As revealed on Tuesday by José Juan Jiménez Güeto, canon spokesman for the Cabildo Catedral de Córdoba, the ecclesiastical body that manages the monument.
Jiménez Güeto has assured that if this trend continues, the main monument of Córdoba will be close to, or may exceed, its historical record of visits. Which it reached in 2019, with 2,079,160 visitors.
The spokesman canon made these statements at the presentation of the sixth edition of the International Festival of Flowers (FLORA). That will take place in Córdoba from October 16 to 26, of which the Cabildo is one of the sponsors.
“I think it can help us much more to reach and exceed, God willing, that emblematic number of two million visitors to our Mosque-Cathedral.” He has said in relation to FLORA, that he will once again have one of his headquarters in the Patio de los Naranjos of the monument.
Last year, visits to the Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba amounted to 1,567,277 people, which represented an increase of 816,269 visits, 108.69 percent above the 751,008 tourists of the previous year. EFE
