Oviedo (EFE) not supporting his presence and the warning from Podemos about a “general rehearsal” of agreements between the Socialists and the Forum.
In this way, both Vox, the third political force with four seats, as well as Podemos and Foro have been left out of the governing body of the regional parliament in a session in which the socialist Juan Cofiño has been elected president by an absolute majority in the first vote thanks to to the vote of the only forum parliamentarian, Adrián Pumares.
Thus, the Vox deputy Carolina López has reproached the PP for its lack of political will – “it was tried and they did not want to” – for them to occupy the position that, in her opinion, corresponded to them “by representativeness” in a Table in which there is IU with fewer seats.
In addition, he has considered that the support for Cofiño by Foro, which governs Gijón in coalition with PP and Vox, is something to which that formation has already accustomed them, “because many times they say one thing and then do the opposite as the rest of the parties.
Support of Forum to Cofino
For his part, Pumares has justified his vote, the meaning of which he had already communicated to the PSOE, in his conviction that Cofiño “can play a good role” in a legislature in which the Forum aspires “to influence each law, each policy and each budget” given that, like Podemos, its only seat can allow PSOE and IU to reach an absolute majority.
In addition, he has reiterated that his group’s forecast is to abstain from the investiture both with the socialist candidate, Adrián Barbón, and with the popular Diego Canga and has considered the possibility of negotiating a coalition government with the PSOE “absolutely ruled out” due to his discrepancies with the socialists and their “preferred partners” of IU.
Tomé summons the PSOE to reflect
Despite the position of the Forum, the parliamentarian of Podemos, Covadonga Tomé, has called on the PSOE to reflect before considering whether they aspire to rely on the Forum throughout the legislature since it is “an error” to agree “with the partners of Vox” which, he stressed, has already given “some unfortunate clues of what it can contribute” from the Gijón government.
Although the leadership of Podemos Asturies had requested the abstention of its deputy in the voting to form the Table, Tomé has indicated that his support for the First Secretariat for the IU deputy Delia Campomanes was “pure political coherence” fulfilling the mandate of the militancy purple by supporting a partner of the Sumar platform.
For the spokesman for IU-Convocatoria por Asturias, Ovidio Zapico, the Foro vote for Cofiño “surely intends to open doors to future understandings” to which, he has warned, they only set a limit: that of sharing a hypothetical coalition government with the forist formation.
Zapico has been satisfied with the resolution of the constitutive plenary session by closing with a progressive majority in the Table that includes an IU deputy and, from now on, has been “expectant” before the conversations that will begin with the PSOE on the future government in which IU wants to be present in the economic and industrial areas.
The PP considers its objective fulfilled
For his part, the PP spokesman and investiture candidate, Diego Canga, has assured that he has achieved his objective of obtaining the two positions on the Board of the General Meeting that corresponded to him as the main opposition group, although he has avoided assessing the position de Foro by giving his vote to Cofiño to be elected president.
“Especially happy” on his first day as a deputy -“for me it is a great honor”, he pointed out-, Canga has also stated that he is satisfied to see “the size” of the popular group, going from 10 to 17 deputies, and has assured that he is “looking forward to working hard for the benefit of Asturias over the next four years.” EFE
