Astrid María Pérez Batista, mayoress of Arrecife and regional deputy since 2011 for the Lanzarote constituency, would be the second woman to access the position, after the mandate of Carolina Darias (PSOE) between 2015 and 2019.
For the Popular Party it would be the third presidency of Parliament, since José Miguel Bravo de Laguna was previously in charge of the Chamber between 1995 and 2003 and Gabriel Mato between 2003 and 2007.
Parliamentary sources have informed EFE that Astrid Pérez will be the only representative of the PP in the Parliamentary Table, in which there would also be two representatives of the CC and two of the PSOE.
