Barcelona (EFE).- The Lithuanian Sarunas Jasikevicius, who has trained Barça for the last three seasons, has put an end to his time as Barca coach and will be replaced by Roger Grimau, the Catalan club announced in a statement.
Jasikevicius has not accepted the renewal offer made by Barcelona and is leaving after winning two ACB Leagues (2020-21 and 2022-23), two Copas del Rey (20-21 and 21-22) and having arrived in his three years to the final phase of the Euroleague, although without winning it (Barça lost the 20-21 final against Anadolu Efes).
His loss is added to that of Nikola Mirotic, the team’s emblem, and is part of the cutback campaign imposed by Joan Laporta’s board of directors.
Grimau, 44, has been the coach of the subsidiary and the junior team in the last two seasons. He has signed until June 2025. He was a Barça player for eight seasons (2003-2011).
