Burgos (EFE).- An incident in a catenary seems to be the cause of a two-hour stop that has left just over 200 passengers on the Alvia Barcelona-Salamanca train standing in full sun, at around 40 degrees, in the town Burgos of Santa Olalla de Bureba, about 20 kilometers from the capital.
Renfe sources have attributed the failure to a voltage drop on the line that has left the convoy without service, which has not only been stopped in the middle of the field, but has also lost air conditioning.
According to two travelers on the train, the doors initially remained closed, trying to preserve the coolness of the remaining air conditioning, but they finally opened and they were able to get out to breathe.
Civil Guard agents arrived at the scene of the incident to control the situation and precautions were taken to distribute water among the most vulnerable people while waiting to receive supplies.
The train stopped at 3:45 p.m.
The company informed the travelers that they would be transferred to other forms of transport, mainly to Burgos, although the first option was that a train could pick them up to continue with the journey.
The train had left the Barcelona-Sants station and at 3:00 p.m. it had stopped at Miranda de Ebro (Burgos), although at 3:45 p.m., shortly before reaching the Burgos station, the train stopped at the stop from Santa Olalla de Bureba, about twenty kilometers from Burgos.
According to the Civil Guard, at 5:40 p.m., one hundred passengers have continued their journey to their destination on another train, another fifteen have continued on their way on a second train, while the rest have reached their final destination in buses or private cars. EFE
