Moscow (EFE).- The Chechen forces, made up of regular units subordinated to the Russian Ministry of Defense and the National Guard, left today for the “zone of tensions” under the control of the Wagner mercenary group, which has risen up against the Russian military elite, according to Chechen leader Ramzam Kadyrov.
“The fighters of the Ministry of Defense and Rosgvardia of the Chechen Republic have already left for the zone of tensions”, referring to the Rostov region, where mercenaries have taken control of the General Staff of the city of Rostov-on-Don, he stated on his Telegram channel.
According to the Chechen leader, a staunch supporter of Russian President Vladimir Putin, his troops “will do everything to preserve the unity of Russia and defend the State.”
“The rebellion must be put down and if for that it is necessary to take drastic measures, we are ready for it,” he added.
I support Putin and criticize Prigozhin, the head of the Wagners
Kadyrov joined the voices supporting Putin after his message to the nation in which he called for Russian unity and called Wagner’s boss Yevgeny Prigozhin a traitor.
“All that happens is a stab in the back and a real military uprising. I have reiterated on several occasions that the war is not the time to bring to light personal offenses and to settle differences in our rearguard, ”he sentenced.
The Chechen leader addressed the fighters who feel patriotic about Russia and urged them “not to get carried away by provocations.”
“No matter what objectives they draw, what promises they make: the security and unity of Russian society at this time is above all else,” he warned.
