Toledo (EFE).- The Government of Castilla-La Mancha has activated from 9:00 a.m. this Wednesday, in the alert phase, the Specific Plan against the Risk due to Adverse Meteorological Phenomena (Meteocam) in Castilla-La Mancha, before the forecast of rains and storms.
The Meteocam management has decreed the activation of this Plan after assessing the orange level warnings for storms with a probability of hail that the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has prepared for the whole day in the Albacete regions of Hellín and Almansa and in Alcaraz and safe.
Yellow level warnings have also been activated for rainfall of up to 15 liters per square meter in one hour and storms with a probability of hail, in the provinces of Guadalajara, Cuenca, Albacete, and in the regions of La Mancha, Toledo and Ciudad Real.
The city councils, informed so that they activate prevention measures
Given the activation of Meteocam in the alert phase, the 112 Emergency Care and Coordination Service has proceeded to inform the municipalities and intervention groups concerned, so that they can establish the prevention, monitoring and response measures they deem appropriate in this situation.
The management of the plan will evaluate the evolution of Aemet’s risk predictions, such as the incidents that occur and their possible consequences, in order to gradually adapt the level of response.
The activation of Meteocam in the alert phase is part of the comprehensive action of the regional government to, in a coordinated manner and by optimizing resources, offer a planned response to any emergency situation.
In addition, the 112 Emergency Service will begin monitoring incidents that may occur due to these rains and storms.
Faced with this situation, 112 recommends slowing down on the road in very heavy rain, adapting to the existing visibility.
How to act in heavy rains and storms
It is also advisable to avoid going through flooded sections, riverbeds or boulevards and, if you go on foot in the countryside, look for high places in case of flooding.
With regard to copious rains, remove from the house the external elements that the water can drag and, if part of the house is flooded, leave basements and ground floors and disconnect the electricity.
Outside, during a heavy rain or storm, avoid parking the vehicle or fording streams or streams with it so that it is not swept away by a sudden flood of water, and move away from troughs, rivers or torrents to avoid a possible flood.
Traveling by road should be avoided and, if necessary, find out about the weather conditions in the area to which you are going and take extreme precautions due to the possible presence of obstacles on the road.
