Sao Paulo (EFE).- The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) intends to announce an agreement with the Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti before the end of June, sources from the entity told EFE on Monday.
Talks between the parties are well advanced, according to sources, with the idea of Ancelotti taking over the Brazilian team after expiring his current contract with Real Madrid.
Several Brazilian media confirmed this Monday that Ancelotti and the CBF have already reached a verbal agreement, so that the coach arrives at Canarinha in mid-2024, after the end of the next European season, but the Brazilian federation does not confirm this information officially.
Ancelotti wanted by Brazil from time ago
Speculation surrounding the hiring of Ancelotti broke out shortly after Tite’s goodbye, who put an end to his career as a Brazilian coach after being eliminated in the quarterfinals of the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
The president of the CBF, Ednaldo Rodrigues, came to publicly admit that the current Real Madrid coach was his “plan A” to replace Tite.
Rodrigues has been in Europe for two weeks, to attend the Champions League final and to accompany the Brazilian team in the friendlies they are playing in Spain and Portugal, and announced that he intended to take advantage of the trip to advance in the hiring of Ancelotti.
Since last March, the Brazilian team has been under the interim management of Ramon Menezes, coach of the Brazilian under-20 team.
