The police investigation began in March, after the Local Police of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria detected fourteen abandoned fiber tubs in the middle of the San Lorenzo ravine, an area whose soil is protected for its agricultural value.
Next to the bathtubs, packages of shower trays marketed by a well-known company that sells construction materials based in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Telde were found, a material that would become the key piece of the investigation.

The inspection carried out by the agents of the Autonomous Police served to verify that, indeed, a reform was being carried out that included the replacement of the bathtubs and that their characteristics fully coincided with those found in the San Lorenzo ravine.
In addition, the hotel company could not prove what destination it was giving to the bathtubs it had replaced, information that it has a legal obligation to make available to the police forces.
The Canarian Police also verified that other materials were being replaced, such as curtains with very peculiar characteristics, which weeks before they had observed in a macro-dumping carried out in a space near the Vargas beach in the municipality of Agüimes on land protected by its landscape value.
For this reason, the agents returned to Vargas to carry out a detailed inspection of the macro spill, being able to find various materials, such as sheets and curtains, that contained labels with the hotel’s commercial name, in addition to another 14 bathtubs with similar characteristics to those found in the ravine. of Saint Lawrence.
For all this, the Canary Islands Police and the Local Police have filed a complaint against the businessman who, in addition to paying the fine imposed, will have the obligation to restitute the environmental damage caused.
