For this reason, Domínguez, convicted of ill-treatment of his ex-partner, a minor under 17 years of age, and with two pending cases for the same crime, has apologized to both the victim and his relatives, as well as “to the fans, to the club, to their peers and to society” and has confirmed that they receive psychological help to improve their behavior.
Grateful to Ramírez because he “has stood up” for him at all times, the yellow squad player stresses that his only objective now is to focus on football and “give everything in the preseason to show that this regret is real.”
On March 7, the footballer acknowledged the facts in the Court of Violence against Women number 1 of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and was sentenced to 40 days of work for the benefit of the community, one year away from the victim -500 meters -, the prohibition to communicate with her and two years of deprivation of possession of weapons.

In April, a judge ordered an investigation into the motives of Joel Domínguez and his ex-partner to verify if he was violating the restraining order imposed. The investigation into the alleged violation of the restraining order is still ongoing.
