Pamplona (EFE) support from his own group and those of PSN, EH Bildu and Contigo-Zurekin.
Hualde has thus managed to reissue the position, in this case in the first ballot and by an absolute majority, adding 30 votes in favor, to 18 for Iriarte (those from UPN and PP), with two blank votes, from Vox.
In addition, the socialist Ainhoa Unzu has been chosen for the first vice-presidency and Juan Luis Sánchez de Muniáin for the second. Yolanda Ibáñez (UPN) and Mikel Zabaleta (EH Bildu) will be the first and second deputy secretaries.
His election has been the central moment of the constitutive session of the Parliament of Navarra, which began with the presidency of the Age Group, made up of the oldest parliamentarian, Emilio Jiménez (Vox), president assisted by the secretaries, the youngest, Kevin Lucero (PSN) and Irati Jiménez (EH Bildu).
Different formulas of oath or promise of office
The session began with a minute of silence, agreed by the Board of the Chamber, in memory of those who died in the recent shipwreck in the Ionian Sea, requested by the provisional president, who greeted them in Spanish and Basque.
After listening to the Anthem of the Cortes de Navarra, with the elected parliamentarians and guests standing from the rostrum, the Chief Lawyer read the Provincial Decree of convocation and the list of elected Provincial Parliamentarians.
Sample of the difference in ideologies of the old table has been his own oath of office, with a “For Spain, yes, I swear”, from the president of the Table, Emilio Jimenez (Vox), the “I promise” of Kevin Lucero ( PSN) or the promise in Basque “by legal imperative” of Irati Jiménez (EH Bildu). They have been followed in the different formulas by the rest of the parliamentarians, among whom the promise “without renouncing the third Republic” of Carlos Guzmán (Contigo-Zurekin) has stood out.
Unai Hualde, elected president of the Chamber
A recess was then held for the presentation of the candidates for the presidency, Iñaki Iriarte for UPN and Unai Hualde for Geroa Bai, who each of the parliamentarians voted for on an individual ballot, who went to the ballot box located in the presidency, except for Uxue Barkos, suffering from a sprained foot.
After Hualde won an absolute majority in the first round, the process has been replicated with the candidacies for the first and second vice-presidency of the House, for which UPN has proposed Juan Luis Sánchez de Muniain and Yolanda Ibañez, and PSN a Ainhoa Unzu and Jorge Aguirre.
In these votes, EH Bildu and Vox have voted blank, while UPN and PP have supported the regionalists, and PSN, Geroa Bai and Contigo-Zurekin have supported the socialists.
Vox supports a UPN candidacy for the Board
For the first and second vice-presidencies, which have been obtained by the socialist Ainhoa Unzu and the regionalist Juan Luis Sánchez de Muniáin respectively, EH Bildu and Vox have voted blank, while UPN and PP have voted for Sánchez de Muniáin and the rest for Unzu .
In the same way, UPN, PP and Vox have voted for Yolanda Ibáñez for the first secretary of the Table, and EH Bildu, Geroa Bai and Contigo-Zurekin have supported Mikel Zabaleta for the second.
A welcome speech and good wishes by the re-elected president of the Chamber, Unai Hualde, closed the act, with a symbolic photograph of the 50 parliamentarians gathered in the chamber, just like the one that always closes the legislature, in principle within four years.
Hualde assumes the position as “an honor”
The re-elected president of the Provincial Parliament, Unai Hualde, has assumed his reappointment as “an honour”, from which he has vowed to “continue to be the president of all”, both of the groups that have supported him and of the they haven’t.
With the experience of directing the Chamber in the last 4 years, Hualde has said that he hopes to maintain “the good working climate” of the previous Board, at the same time that he has shown his “satisfaction” because the body that will govern the Chamber (with representation from Geroa Bai, PSN, UPN and EH Bildu) “be plural and have a progressive majority”.
In this regard, he wanted this to be an indication and “a first step” to resolve with the same “orientation” of progressive agreements the rest of the Navarrese institutions, such as the town halls tomorrow and the regional government in the coming weeks.
“I hope that this can be a legislature of social advances and in the rights of the citizenry, and that requires determination and a willingness to agree”, has granted the president of the Chamber, who has also wished for this legislature “serene and constructive debate ” in which values such as “parliamentary courtesy over populism” prevail.
