Barcelona (EFE).- The Sónar festival celebrates its 30th anniversary this year with a purely electronic line-up with which it vindicates its roots and looks towards the future.
Sónar, which will take place from today until June 17 in Barcelona, includes in its program the most spectacular ‘show’ in its history, with holograms and colossal screens, the return of cult artists, the vanguard of hip-hop and the latest in Latin-electronic rhythms.
In total, more than 250 proposals, including concerts, dj sets, master classes, talks and debate forums, of which ten can be considered “essential”.

The Swedish master of progressive house presents “HOLO”, a large format immersive show, with holograms, giant screens and a great display of lights, which promises to be the most spectacular that has ever been held in the large halls of Fira Gran Via de L’Hospitalet (Barcelona), headquarters of Sónar by Night.
Aphex Twin
After four years away from the stage, this countercultural icon returns to Sónar, which Sónar co-director Enric Palau defines as “the father of modern electronica and the cryptic ‘enfant terrible’, difficult to have at a festival”.
Fever Ray
The Swedish artist Karin Dreijer, co-founder of The Knife, comes to Sónar with her project Fever Ray and a live show based on the album “Radical Romantics”, with a full band and theatrical staging.
Bicep
The Belfast duo will be “the godfather of the great dance floor that will be this year’s Sónar”, according to Palau, who has highlighted the success of their latest albums, which have turned them into global stars.
Bad Gyal
The Catalan artist, who performed for the first time in the small room at Sónar by Day dedicated to emerging artists, returns to the festival where she was born as a headliner at Sónar by Night and an icon for the new generations.
Max Cooper
Sónar by Day, which is held over three days at the Fira Barcelona de Montjuïc from three in the afternoon until midnight, also welcomes names to highlight, such as Max Cooper, a doctorate in computational biology who builds his visual spectacles from from the language of the data.
Oneohtrix Point Never
The most advanced technology takes the stage with this American producer, who has worked with The Weeknd on his latest album and who shares an experimental spirit with Ryoji Ikeda, a radical artist who will also be present at Sónar 2023.
Peggy Gou
This Korean dj, who has become a ‘celebrity’ within club culture and who gathers thousands of people in her sessions, will play at dawn on Saturday, in a day that will also feature other greats of dance music in Sonar by Day, Horse Meat Disco and Prosumer.
Little Simz
The British rapper, who combines stage presence with social criticism, is one of the representatives of hip-hop at Sónar, a genre that has always been present and that this year has names like Cakes Da Killa, offering a queer vision of rap, and Shygirl, fusing rap, r&b, pop, and club music.

Latin club music is a growing global trend, which is reflected at Sónar with performances by international artists such as Nick León, Manuka Honey, Denmark, BADSISTA b2b Cashu and Amor Satyr, and local artists such as Phran, Flaca, Toccororo, Cardopusher, La Niña Jacarandá and Merca Bae, regular producer of Bad Gyal.
After three intense days, the party will be closed by Ángel Molina, the same DJ who closed the first edition of Sónar 30 years ago and who continues to be one of the festival’s most beloved DJs.
