Seville, (EFE).- The president of the Board, Juanma Moreno, has sent a letter in response to the spokesperson for Por Andalucía, Inma Nieto, in which he stresses that the proposed law on irrigated land in the area of Doñana it is an “open text” to be “improved” among groups and social and economic agents.
Moreno expresses in this letter that they do not understand that there are groups “installed in the electoral war. The hyperbole and the insult” nor the “refusal” to attend by some of the appearing parties cited in the parliamentary process. What supposes a “lack of respect” to the representatives of the Andalusians.
He has shown Nieto his “full willingness to dialogue” and has invited him to seek solutions “among all of us”. Since “the economic survival of thousands of Andalusian families and the preservation of the natural area of Doñana are at stake”.
He has defended that the initiative does not mean expanding irrigation. Rather order the territory to replace groundwater with surface water. “We want to make amends for the mistakes of the past.”
The interest of protecting Doñana
Moreno insists that “there is no other interest than protecting Doñana”, whose environmental values are “an insurmountable red line”.
In addition, it makes a “feral” defense of the strawberry and red fruit sector. And he assures that the Andalusian Government will “firmly” defend this sector, “whose agricultural activity is completely compatible with the natural environment.”
“In no case does this initiative come to harm Doñana, or its aquifer, or to grant amnesties, but rather to solve a problem that has been going on for too long,” he adds.
This letter is a response to the letter in which Nieto asked Moreno to put an end to the “nonsense” of the bill to expand irrigated land in the area of Doñana. EFE
