Rome (EFE).- The shares of Media For Europe (MEF), the former Mediaset Italia, rise more than 9.5% today after the death of its founder and shareholder, Silvio Berlusconi, this Monday at the age of 86 in Milan hospital (north).
A few minutes after the death, the shares of MFE began to rise and at 11:10 local time (9:10 GMT) they were earning close to 10%, with a price of 0.52 euros per share.
Berlusconi was admitted again last Friday for “controls” for the leukemia he had suffered for a long time, but he died this Monday at the San Raffaele hospital in Milan before his children and heirs.
The politician and businessman controlled a business empire from his family’s holding company, Fininvest, currently chaired by his eldest daughter Marina Berlusconi, and which has to its credit the publishing giant Mondadori and the Mediolanum bank.
Mondadori rose 2.05%, with a price per share of 1.99 euros.
While Mediolanum, of which the Berlusconi family’s Fininvest holding company owns 30% of the capital, advanced 0.66% with a price per share of 0.054 euros.
