Sydney (Australia) (EFE).- At least ten people have died and eleven were injured when the bus in which they were traveling overturned in the town of Greta, some 180 kilometers north of the city of Sydney, police sources reported on Monday .
The New South Wales Region Police explained in a statement today that the event occurred around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday (1:30 p.m. GMT) at a roundabout in Greta, located in a tourist wine-growing area in the Hunter Valley.
As a result of this accident, an unknown number of people were taken by helicopter to a Sydney hospital, while other injured were taken to nearby hospitals.
Eighteen other passengers were unharmed in this accident, the police statement added.
The bus driver, a 58-year-old man, was taken to hospital for mandatory breathalyzer tests, while the crash site has been declared a crime scene to investigate its causes.
According to Australian television network Nine, the bus was carrying guests who had attended a wedding at a vineyard near Greta.
