A total of 170 passengers on the Seville-Cáceres medium-distance train had to be evacuated this Saturday afternoon when an outbreak of fire broke out when the convoy was circulating through the Andalusian province, which caused no personal injury.
As reported to Efe by Renfe sources, the event occurred around 7:00 p.m. on a single track in the Sierra Norte de Sevilla without road access, which forced travelers to be evacuated between the Cazalla and Guadalcanal stations.
Two other trains were sent to the site, one from Seville to pick up the travelers and have them continue their journey and another from Cáceres to tow the train of the incident, in which an excursion of parents and children of different ages was traveling, none of them affected .
The train that came to pick them up had drinks and food for all the travelers, according to Renfe, which specified that at 11:00 p.m. the travelers were already on the train on their way to their destinations.
According to the company, the damaged convoy belongs to the 599 series, “the most modern of diesel trains” and which has been recently revised.
