Logroño, (EFE).- The process of transfer of powers in the Logroño City Council is taking place with “collaboration and cordiality”, as recognized by the acting mayor, Pablo Hermoso de Mendoza (PSOE), and the winner of the elections of 28 May, Conrado Escobar (PP).
In statements to journalists after the award ceremony of the San Bernabé 2023 insignia, Hermoso de Mendoza has assured that the relationship with Escobar is “very cordial and efficient.”
He has said that, as the outgoing Corporation, he has offered the mayor-elect all the collaboration, which he has accepted, something that the acting mayor appreciates “very much”.
Thus, he explained that their respective teams are working in different areas, such as social services, European funds and other issues that the city needs.
“It is about moving forward, because the municipalities do not stop. We pretend that there is no problem and there is no stoppage ”, he insisted.
For his part, Escobar agreed that the transition is being “calm and informed”, despite coinciding with the San Bernabé festivities.
“Right now it is a slightly more complicated stage, but we have already had the occasional conversation about it and I want to emphasize that the mayor’s willingness is absolute in terms of facilitating this transition,” he stressed.
He added that time will have to go deeper into some of the issues, because, “obviously, there will not be unanimity in everything, that is the policy but there will be continuity in some areas” of the current Corporation.
