Pamplona (EFE).- Unión del Pueblo Navarra (UPN) and the Socialist Party of Navarra (PSN) have held a “rough” meeting this Thursday without any possibility of reaching agreements to form a government or to lead town halls.
This was expressed by the secretary of the Socialist Organization, Ramón Alzórriz, who spoke to the media after meeting, together with María Chivite and Jorge Aguirre, with the representatives of UPN, Javier Esparza, Enrique Maya and Yolanda Ibáñez.
The meeting had been requested by the Unión del Pueblo Navarro and Javier Esparza welcomed the possibility that “the party that won the elections would have the opportunity to meet with the second, which is the PSN.”
Esparza proposes that EH Bildu “does not have the keys”
The leader of UPN, Javier Esparza, has transferred to the PSN that EH Bildu “does not have the keys to governance in Navarra or in the town halls”, but “there has been no surprise, we have verified that what the PSN has transferred these last dates”.
The PSN wants to form a government with Geroa Bai and Contigo Navarra and “this scenario is only possible with the abstention of EH Bildu”, he asserted.
“We have transferred that it is harmful that Navarra depends on the nationalist left. If UPN does not achieve certain mayorships, it is because the PSN has an agreement with EH Bildu. For Navarra it is not good that EH Bildu continues to grow”, he added in this regard.
Regarding the possibility that Alzórriz raised last week that UPN abstained so that Chivite could be president, Esparza considers that “the PSN does not want anything from UPN and is not in a position to ask us to abstain,” he stressed.
The objective of the PSN is to “leave the right and ultra-right in the opposition”
Alzórriz has reiterated that the objective of the PSN is “to leave the right and the extreme right in the opposition” and that they have been “clear” with UPN.
“There is no possibility of reaching agreements with UPN and we are totally antagonistic parties to agree on the Government, there is no alternative to the Government of María Chivite. He has spoken to us about city councils and we have told him that in all the institutions we want to leave the right in the opposition ”, he declared.
“It has been a harsh meeting, with constant reproaches for what has never been and we have clearly told them what we have told the public, that we want to form a government with Geroa Bai and Navarra with you”, he added.
As for the town halls, Alzórriz explained that Elma Saiz, the candidate for Pamplona, has spoken with the Contigo and Geroa Bai candidates, but that “we must continue talking and trying.”
Regarding leaving the extreme right in the opposition, he has said that he does not know if “UPN will want to do the same in San Adrián, where it is negotiating with Vox to remove the mayoralty from the PSN, first force.” EFE
