Valladolid, (EFE).- The initial contacts between leaders of the PP and Vox in Castilla y León to forge agreements in certain town halls are advancing more in the city of Burgos than in Valladolid.
They are the two province capitals of the Community in which this agreement is the only feasible one to separate the current socialist mayors, Óscar Puente and Daniel de la Rosa, who headed the list with the most votes, ahead of June 17, when they will remain constituted municipal corporations.
Ten days from that moment, it is still up in the air who will hold the Mayor’s Office in both cities, but also in León and Palencia.
In the rest of the capitals it is clearer in different ways: an absolute majority of the PP in Salamanca and of the PSOE in Soria, a sufficient majority of the PP in Segovia, Por Ávila will continue to lead in the capital of Avila, at least as the most voted list and IU will support in the PSOE to maintain that of Zamora.
Valladolid
In the case of Valladolid, the PSOE would only maintain the Mayor’s Office if the attempts to reach an agreement between the PP and Vox fail, whose representatives maintain discretion and deny that meetings have taken place.
“There is nothing new”, they have limited themselves to transferring to the media, while recalling that the popular candidate Jesús Julio Carnero already spoke in the days after 28M that he will talk with Vox to seek that agreement.
Puente, the next head of the PSOE list to Congress for Valladolid, has maintained that he will collect his councilor minutes on June 17, which will finally be when it will be known whether the talks between PP and Vox are forged or not and the doubt will be cleared.
The situation in Valladolid, like that of Burgos, is affected by the exchange of views between leaders of the PP and Vox at the national level.
The popular ones demand unconditional support as a formula to prevent the PSOE from governing and those of Vox appeal to the need to join the municipal government, along the path of the coalition government in Castilla y León.
Burgos
For her part, the PP candidate for Mayor of Burgos, Cristina Ayala, who could become the first female mayor in the city’s history, has assured that she is in no rush to reach an agreement with Vox.
He has acknowledged that there have been meetings on programs, while he has ruled out allowing the list with the most votes to govern, that of the current acting councilor Daniel de la Rosa (PSOE), who offered the popular a coalition government or be his preferred partner.
In a press conference, Ayala has acknowledged that the talks have begun and does not rule out negotiating the entry of Vox into the local government, although neither will he govern through foreign or specific support for the PP government.
For his part, in another appearance before the media, Daniel de la Rosa (PSOE) has been “almost convinced” that there is already an agreement between PP and Vox to add fifteen councilors and leave the mayor’s office in the hands of of the PP.
He has assured that he understands that Cristina Ayala feels “uncomfortable with this agreement with Vox and what could harm her party in the general elections”, but has added that he “practically” sees himself “in opposition after June 17”. .
After Ayala has ruled out letting the list with the most votes rule, De la Rosa accuses her of breaching what he considers to be a personal commitment by the PP candidate, who during the campaign “said that she would not govern if it was not the most voted list.” voted”.
León
In León the key is held by the PSOE and UPL. The acting councilor of León and socialist candidate for re-election, José Antonio Diez, who won the 28M elections with eleven ediles, has made it clear this Wednesday that he will not cede the Mayor’s Office in the negotiations begun with the Union of the Leonese People, which also they reach other municipalities and even the Provincial Council itself.
In the capital León, the five UPL councilors could make the PSOE or PP candidates mayors, since the first achieved eleven councilors for the second nine, and the majority is fourteen.
“It is clear that as the force with the most votes we are not going to give up the Mayor’s Office and my invitation to the UPL is to participate in the government team because I believe it is productive for everyone,” the mayor said in statements to journalists.
Palencia
The governance of the Palencia City Council is in the hands of the new Vamos Palencia party, which obtained three councillors.
You must decide if you support the PSOE of Miriam Andrés (10 councilors) who was the most voted list and with the support of the new formation would reach an absolute majority (13 councilors).
Or he leans towards the PP of Alfonso Polanco (8 councilors) who will also need the support of Vox (3 councilors) to govern.
Thus, it will be Vamos Palencia who unblocks the situation, with the premises that they have, a priori, no intention of being part of the government, to have a free hand throughout the term, and that they are going to give priority to the negotiations to the most voted list, that of the PSOE, which would not need IU-Podemos (1 councilor).
To do this, Vamos Palencia has set a strategy that will speed up the deadlines for the investiture, since it has started a citizen consultation, which ends tomorrow, to determine the city projects that should be decisive in that negotiation.
Subsequently, an assembly will be held with the partners (on June 12) to assess the results and prepare a final document that includes all the conclusions.
Vamos Palencia has ensured that this final document will be sent the next day (June 13) to the PSOE to receive a positive or negative response as the most voted list.
Zamora
In Zamora, IU and PSOE are negotiating a joint government team, like the one they maintained between 2015 and 2019, which would give stability to Francisco Guarido (IU) in his third term in the city of Duero, negotiations that are carried out with discretion to try to close an agreement without rushing the times until June 17.
The agreement for the IU to maintain the only Spanish provincial capital was forged after that formation lost its absolute majority in the 28M elections and was left with ten councilors, four fewer than in the previous term.
They are enough to join the three of the PSOE in a Corporation of 25 members in which PP, Vox and Zamora Yes will exercise the opposition.EFE
