“Today Britain is acting as an ally of Ukraine, providing military aid with weapons and specialists, in fact waging an undeclared war against Russia,” Medvedev wrote on Twitter.
Therefore, he added, “any of their senior officials, both military and civilian, who assist in that war can be considered a legitimate military target.”
“Eternal Enemy”
“The foolish officials of Great Britain, our eternal enemy, must remember that, under international law (…) including the Hague and Geneva Conventions with their additional protocols, their position can be considered as being in a state of war,” he stressed. .
Medvedev, president of Russia between 2008 and 2012, thus replied to the British Foreign Minister, James Cleverly, who stated that Ukraine has the right to attack beyond its borders after the drone bombing that the Russian capital suffered on Tuesday.
The British minister assured that he does not know details about the “nature” of that event, which left no victims, and specified that his position on Ukraine’s right to carry out attacks outside its territory is a reflection on “general points, rather than on that specific incident.
