Oviedo (EFE).- Asturias received 533,615 tourists in the first quarter, totaling 1,075,088 stays, figures that represent year-on-year growth of 22.8 and 19.6 percent, respectively, and a new record for the entire historical series.
Only in April, the Principality received 246,291 travelers who generated 517,639 overnight stays, which implies year-on-year increases of 30.8 and 23.4 percent, respectively, and also a new record for that month, according to the latest data published by the National Statistics Institute (INE).
As the Government of the Principality has assessed in a statement, last month both visitors and stays in all types of accommodation increased compared to April 2022: 25.5% in travelers and 22.3% in overnight stays, in the hotel segment; 45.8% and 32.6%, in campsites; 17.6% and 23.9%, in tourist apartments; 41.1% and 24%, in rural tourism, and 82.2% and 24.4%, in the case of hostels.
International tourism also left record figures in April, with 45,414 tourists and 82,032 overnight stays, 60.3% and 42.4% more in the interannual rate.
Accommodations generated 5,631 jobs in April, 10.5% more in year-on-year terms and 46.8% above March.

Regarding the profile of tourists who have visited Asturias in the first four-month period, the people surveyed highlighted leadership in nature tourism (38%) and gastronomy (33%) as the main motivation for traveling to the Principality.
Trips are mostly made with the family (46%) or as a couple (32%), and the most frequent activities are visits to coastal areas (84%), monuments (49.8%) and mountain areas (36 %).
