Toledo (EFE).- The general secretary of the Socialists of Castilla-La Mancha and elected president of the region, Emiliano García-Page, has revealed that the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, has not yet congratulated him on his absolute majority in regional elections.
And he has confirmed that the person who did send him a message on Monday was the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo.
In an interview on Onda Cero, when asked if Sánchez has congratulated him after revalidating his absolute majority – the only one for the PSOE in an autonomous community – García-Page said that he believes not, although he has acknowledged that he has yet to read a third of the congratulatory messages he received on Sunday night.
You want your party to win, although you distinguish between the party and those who represent it
During the interview, the president of Castilla-La Mancha has assured that he wants his party to win the general elections on July 23, although he has qualified that he distinguishes between his party and those who represent it.
He has shown himself to be aware that “not everyone” in his formation has been happy that he has achieved an absolute majority on 28M.
Although he has downplayed its importance because he considers that joining a party “is not joining a sect”, but that in the parties “people have freedom of opinion and movement”.
Regarding the advancement of the general elections, he has opined that “there was no other alternative.”
In fact, he has considered that if the general elections were not already held and were left until the end of the year, it would be “six months of barbecue”, in which “the party and the candidate would burn”, but also “the institutions and the country”.
García-Page also believes that “there will be no debate” about who will be the candidate of the PSOE and assumes that it will also be the general secretary of the Socialists.
In his opinion, no one is going to provoke this debate: “He is the President of the Government, he wants to go and he has called with that intention.” Therefore, he does not believe that it can be “discussed and it is reasonable for people to issue their verdict on his management.”
