Kiev (EFE).- Multiple explosions practically in a row shook this Monday shortly after 11:00 local time (9:00 GMT) the center of the Ukrainian capital, whose Military Administration reported the activation of anti-aircraft defenses to protect the city from Russian attacks.
“The anti-aircraft defenses are activated in kyiv. Stay in the shelters,” the Kiev Military Administration wrote on its Telegram account, minutes after it announced the alert for possible attacks and asked all citizens to run for refuge underground.
The mayor of the capital, Vitalii Klitschko, wrote on his official account on the social network: “Explosions in the city. In the central area.”
Klitscho added that the rescue services moved to the center of kyiv to deal with the consequences of the explosions.
These explosions come hours after the Ukrainian capital was attacked last night with more than 40 Russian drones and cruise missiles that were shot down entirely by the city’s anti-aircraft defenses.
Russia had not attacked kyiv at midmorning for months. In recent times, almost all of its attacks on the Ukrainian capital have occurred at night.
The head of the Ukrainian presidential office, Andriy Yermak, has asked the citizens of the capital not to record and publish videos of the interception of Russian missiles or drones by Ukrainian air defenses, so as not to give clues to Russian forces about the place where their projectiles have landed.

“Our units continue to hold the line and positions and repel all attempts of the enemy to advance in the areas of Bilogorivka, Spirne, Novoselivske, Torske inflicting significant losses of personnel and equipment,” Syrskyi said in his Telegram account.
The Ukrainian commander explained that during his visit to the front he has met with the Ukrainian military officials in these areas, with whom he discussed the current situation in the theater of operations and its possible evolution.
Syrskyi noted that “the time will soon come when we will move to active offensive actions.”
