Madrid (EFE).- A group of ten women opposed to the trans law has come to demonstrate against this rule at the closing ceremony of the Podemos campaign in Madrid, which has been about to cause a confrontation with those attending the rally, to the point that the National Police has had to intervene to remove them.
The activists entered the scene during the speech by the Minister for Equality, Irene Montero, when they approached the stage carrying posters against the trans law, with messages such as “You are not feminists, you are neoliberals.”
“Out with the transphobia of this act”, Montero reacted as the public stood up and the private security of the rally tried to separate the protesters.
Supporters of Podemos – some 800, according to the party – have addressed the protesters shouting “There is already a trans law”, and there have been moments of tension when some attendee at the rally has tried to remove the posters from the activists.
Finally, agents of the National Police intervened to urge the protesters to move away from the Planetarium Producers’ Market, where the act was taking place, which has resumed after a couple of minutes of interruption.
