Campo de Criptana (Ciudad Real) (EFE) Sunday’s elections are “a kind of prelude to the general elections” and he stressed that “not only have they never been, but they will not be”.
In an interview with the EFE Agency at a stop during his electoral campaign, next to the windmills of Campo de Criptana (Ciudad Real), García-Page explained that there are “many inertias in Spain” that lead people to think “in everything except local and regional”.
“There are many people who are going to vote now with the intention of not committing themselves to what happens later, in December or January, when the generals are held, he has reflected.”
Remember that the PSOE obtained a different percentage of the vote in the general and regional elections of 2019
It already happened four years ago, he recalled, when the generals took place a month before the regional ones, and in those few weeks the vote for the PSOE rose in Castilla-La Mancha from 28 to 44 percent and the vote for Vox dropped from 16 to 7 percent, as examples.
“It is very easy to think that many people who went to vote a month before the regional elections, in the general elections, were already quite clear about what they were going to vote for later, because in a few weeks the vote does not change that much,” said the Toledo native. Garcia-Page.
On the offer of a pact by the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, to the PSOE so that the most voted list governs, García-Page has said that if what he wants is not to lean on the extremes.
“It seems better to me than the attitude of other PP leaders who do not care about extremes or going to extremes”, and he pointed out that this attitude “is good for” Núñez Feijóo, the PP “and surely everyone”.
Call for national stability and inclusive agreements for State policies
In this regard, the president of Castilla-La Mancha since 2015 prefers to speak of “national stability agreements, of inclusive agreements for the great policies of the State and for the stability of the essentials”, because “there is room for political dialectic, room for difference and There is a contrast: not all of us are the same and it should be that way”, but there must be “a stability agenda and a diversity agenda”.
García-Page has indicated that he misses a “common agenda in Spanish politics”, mainly between the two parties with the responsibility of governing (PSOE and PP).
And he makes use of the popular proverb, because “it is not the same to boast of being in a car than to push the car” and adds: “Sometimes they tell you, ‘I am in the same car as you’, but it is not about go in the car, it’s about pushing. And to push the car, the PSOE or the PP: the others get on the car”.
The inclusive social democracy of the “Manchego school”
The re-election candidate has stated that he practices an “inclusive, non-fanatical social democracy”, and believes that “many people” value this “central, inclusive, non-sectarian attitude, of not ruling against anyone and with a social and progressive orientation” that It is part of what he has called “the Manchego school”.
This autonomous baron, who on numerous occasions has confronted leaders and politicians of his party to prioritize what he considers best for Castilla-La Mancha, has summarized the social democratic formula “in the Manchego style.”
“Wealth is created, we want to create it, not only do we not hate it, but we seek it, and we want, in addition to wealth, that it be distributed. As simple as that ”, he has exposed.
In the face of some critics who have accused him of being macho for some statements, he has declared that he is “accustomed to personal disqualifications.”
It has also responded with data, since Castilla-La Mancha leads the expenditure on equality per inhabitant in all of Spain and has “the most advanced social policies on equality in all of Spain.”
The next few days the public events will continue throughout the five provinces of Castilla-La Mancha (more than 900 municipalities and 80,000 square kilometres), and the only forecast for change is to be able to use the raincoat if it rains.
“I have a campaign one for insults, but that is not the one I care about. It matters to me that it could rain and I would be delighted to have to take out the umbrella ”, García-Page said.
In total, he plans to travel some 12,000 kilometers in his vehicle these 15 days of the electoral campaign, in which he is repeating that in Castilla-La Mancha there are only two options: either his project or a government of the PP and Vox.
