Jaén, (EFE).- The actor and playwright Albert Boadella, creator of the independent theater company Els Joglars, has received the Golden Table of the International Music and Dance Festival ‘Ciudad de Úbeda’ (Jaén), which is celebrating this year 35 editions.
Boadella presented this Saturday at the Ubetense festival his latest production, ‘Diva’, a musical theater show around the figure of the great lady of the opera María Callas, whose centenary of her birth is commemorated in 2023.
The show was attended by the soprano María Rey Joly together with Antoni Comas on piano and voice.
The Amigos de la Música Cultural Association, organizer of the musical cycle together with the Úbeda City Council, has awarded the Gold Medal “to someone who is a benchmark in the world of the scene, on many occasions approaching the world of music from the theater ”.
National Ballet of Spain
The Gold Medal of the Úbeda International Music and Dance Festival has been awarded in previous editions to personalities and institutions of the stature of Montserrat Caballé, Victoria de los Ángeles, Josep Carreras, Jehudi Menuhin, Alfredo Kraus, Silvio Rodríguez or Joaquín Achúcarro.
The Úbeda Festival, which lasts until the end of June, celebrates its 35th edition with a lineup that includes artists such as Alejandro Sanz, the pianist Grigory Sokolov, Carlos Núñez, the cellist Gautier Capuçon, José Luis Jaén or the pianist Konstantin Scherbakov.
The program also includes ensembles such as the Ciudad de Granada, Extremadura and Comunidad de Madrid orchestras together with their choir, and prestigious chamber groups such as the Camerata Royal Concertgbow Orchestra of Amsterdam, the Zagreb Quartet or the Fellini Quartet.
The soloists of the National Ballet of Spain will also be present together with the aforementioned orchestra from Granada, the guitarist Rafael Aguirre and the director Manuel Coves. EFE
