Villarrubia de los Ojos (Ciudad Real) (EFE) the “disastrous” drought, since the regional president, Emiliano García-Page, has not yet “remedied” the water shortage, he laments.
This was stated in statements to the press from Villarrubia de los Ojos (Ciudad Real), the first stop of the leader of the Castilian-La Mancha PP on a new day of the electoral campaign to commemorate San Isidro, patron saint of farmers, of whom we must remember, he emphasized, “365 days a year” and not just today.
The president of the regional PP has stressed that Castilla-La Mancha suffers from a “very serious” problem with the drought that “is ruining” farmers and ranchers and, therefore, he lacks an “immediate and sufficient” aid plan to alleviate workers in the primary sector.
In his opinion, the government headed by Emiliano García-Page “has not put a remedy” to the drought and “far from putting on the table” “emerging” aid against the lack of water “continues to make announcements, but the money continues without reach” farmers, ranchers and the agri-food industry.
More water, a new agriculture law and fighting in Brussels
The lack of rainfall has led the popular leader to demand once again that the socialist candidate take the regional pact for water “out of the drawer”, which for the first time follows a “clear” strategy on water, and to defend a national hydrological pact.
“There is no other way,” he asserted.
In addition, if he becomes the next regional president, he has promised to “battle” in Brussels to demand the relaxation of the Common Agrarian Policy (CAP).
In fact, he has ensured that as it is now drafted, the CAP implies a cut of more than 23 percent in the average income of each farmer “and this is unsustainable”, he has stated.
With the aim of giving “security and certainty” to Castilian-La Mancha farmers and ranchers, Núñez has promised once again that he will repeal the Family Farming Law and has said: “With me as president they are not going to expropriate the land from no farmer.”
Núñez has declared that the Castilian-La Mancha people can have “the certainty, security and confidence” that the PP is the “only” political party in the region “that can eliminate” this new regulation and that it will regulate priority wells.
