The works of the smart city “Elysium City”, which is going to be built in Castilblanco (Badajoz), will begin on May 19 with the start of the earthmoving works, which will be carried out by the Extremaduran temporary union of companies (UTE) formed by Gosadex and Aglomerados La Serena .
The activity will begin on the land owned by the company and will continue on the rest of the surface as soon as the certificate of occupation is granted, as reported by the promoter of the project, Castilblanco Elysium Corporation, in a statement.
Extremaduran companies
The promoter has highlighted the importance of contracting with Extremaduran companies for everything related to the construction and subsequent start-up of Elysium, since it will be a boost for the local economy.
The project already has environmental authorizationspublished in the Official Gazette of Extremadura (DOE) last January, and the Castiblanco City Council granted the building permit on May 2 after its approval in a municipal plenary session.
This was the last permit that Elysium City needed to start work and lay the first stone of this project that will become “the first smart and sustainable city in all of Spain and Europe”, according to the promoter in a statement.
In his opinion, this project is an international benchmark for the new leisure that is in demand after the pandemic, so “it is an exciting project for Extremadura and for Spain.”
twelve million square meters
Elysium City will have an area of 12 million square meters, 8.3 million of which are developable land.
It includes 20 hectares of green areas and a hotel capacity of 18,000 beds, a residential area, theme parks, piers, a 17-kilometre navigable coastline, as well as facilities for holding concerts.
The implementation of this project will mean a investment of 18,000 million euros, according to the promoters, who have stressed that they have not requested any subsidy or any type of aid, since it is a “full lung” bet with their own resources and guarantees. EFE
