Madrid (EFE).- Author designs, spectacular volumes of haute couture, emerging designers and a commitment to upcycling make up the stylistic commitment that Blanca Paloma displays in Liverpool, where tomorrow Saturday she will perform at the Eurovision Song Contest with her flamenco lullaby “Eaea ”.
“She is an artist, she has training and a link to stage design and art; This is noticeable when choosing her clothes, which usually have an author’s stamp ”, explains Román Herrero Valles, director of the 15 Segundos exhibition hall, a project by designer Eduardo Navarrete who has dressed the artist in her appearances, to EFE. public.
From the sculptural dress that she wore in the semifinal, signed by Alejandro Resta, with more than 5,000 embroidered crystals and two hundred hours of work, to the sparkles of Isabel Gomila, the dresses of Maison Mesa or the pieces of Guillermo Décimo, the artist’s wardrobe It is structured by author pieces made in Spain.
For Herrero Valles, who has been working with the artist for months, “the synergy was very natural.”
“At first she came alone to choose her own wardrobe, and later with her stylist, Raúl Amor, with whom she has chosen the clothes for Liverpool”, explains the director.
The artist extends her musical proposal to aesthetics, something she has been doing since she got the best score at the Benidorm Fest 2023, where the next day she chose a garment from Enneges.
Reuse of scraps
This firm, a pioneer in Spain in the reuse of scraps to configure new garments and a regular in Spanish fashion circuits, was Blanca Paloma’s first commitment to author design.
A decision that is not random, once again taking into account art as a link between the artist and the firm.
“She knows how to connect with the artistic because she has that training. Our garments have applied arts techniques, such as gradients and paints”, explains the firm’s creative director, Iñigo Ceballos, also trained in Fine Arts like the vocalist.
“Appreciate the garments as if they were works of art and value the effort. She has also been an emerging designer and that is why we proposed these types of brands to her”, says Herrero about the garment she chose for the European campaign photos taken at the Prado Museum, a jacket by Guillermo Décimo from Burgos, nicknamed “the new Galliano of fashion”.
The creator of Blanca Paloma’s dress: “It’s an honor”
For the creator, dressing Blanca Paloma is “an honour”, and even more so when “the photography taken inside the museum has traveled all over Europe”, he indicates.
Blanca Paloma has also worn pieces by established designers, such as Maison Mesa, a firm for which she has repeatedly opted. “I think she connects with our clothes because she is classic and avant-garde at the same time, a vision that she also has,” says Juan Caros Mesa, head of the firm.
In his stylistic proposal there has also been room for shine with the proposal of the Dutch designer Isabel Gomila and her new collection, “Opulence”.
A collection inspired by the 1920s, “an aesthetic that she has”, explains the designer, creator of which she has also worn several kimonos, “comfortable but colorful garments”.
For the semifinal of the Eurovision Song Contest, the artist opted for Alejandro Resta’s haute couture with a beaded suit. “They are sculptural pieces. The dress was embroidered with 5,000 crystals on black tulle,” she says, a piece that took three weeks to make.
