Logroño, (EFE) municipal gardens, given the situation of drought.
This is one of the issues that the Government of La Rioja has transferred this Thursday to the highest municipal representatives of the municipalities of Bajo Iregua and Eje del Ebro, which are the two basins that recently experienced an emergency situation due to drought.
This was detailed by the Minister of Ecological Transition and spokesman for the La Rioja Government, Alex Dorado, in statements to journalists, at the beginning of the meeting, to convey to them the information sent by the Ebro Hydrographic Confederation and propose saving measures in water supplies drinking water.
With regard to swimming pools, the counselor has said that municipal and community swimming pools fulfill a social function in summer and, therefore, being a public service, they will not be restricted.
The private ones is a matter that falls to the town councils, as is the case with golf courses, for which the Executive is going to propose a reduction in consumption, he added.
The competition for this type of limitations or savings in the use of water is municipal and the function of the regional government is to inform and coordinate the saving measures that can be adopted, he said.
Some municipalities in both basins, such as Logroño and Navarrete, he explained, have already made progress in establishing measures and the Government’s objective is to extend them to all basins. EFE
