La Laguna (Tenerife) (EFE).- The Lenovo Tenerife coach, Txus Vidorreta, has stated that all the final four of the Champions League are “very demanding” and the one that will be played starting this Friday in Malaga “will be even to a higher level”, in which the Tenerife team will defend their title.
The Bilbao coach said at a press conference that they have the “illusion” of playing in the fourth final, and for this they will have to beat the Israeli team of Hapoel Jerusalem in their semifinal.
“Never a weak or small team reaches a Final Four. There is no affordable rival, and this year there is a level of teams with stratospheric results, such as Hapoel from Jerusalem, Bonn, and Unicaja, which is the organizer and has won the Copa del Rey. It is a very competitive Final Four. they have all been very demanding and this will be at the same level, or higher, than the previous ones”, declared the coach of the aurinegro team.
For Vidorreta, Hapoel Jerusalem has “a lot of balance in all its lines”, because it has a “very well structured squad” that will require them to “give one hundred percent, or even more, to have any chance of winning”.
In the other semifinal, the host will face off, Unicaja de Málaga -the executioner of Lenovo Tenerife in the Cup final- and the German Bonn, and for Vidorreta “if you don’t win the first game, it’s useless to think about the second”, although He believes that the Malaga team may have “a certain advantage due to the fact that they are playing at home” to reach the final, but remember that their German rival “is playing well all year long”, which is why he predicts “an open tie”.
The coach of the team from La Laguna is pleased to arrive at the appointment with all the available squad and the only exception being Dakota Mathias, although the American shooting guard, with physical problems, could not play this competition with Lenovo Tenerife either. EFE
