Paris (EFE).- Spain is suffering “a long and structural housing crisis of serious proportions,” warned the Council of Europe on Wednesday, which notes that there is “an urgent need” for more social and accessible housing.
The lack of social housing has worsened with the decision of some governments to allow investment funds to buy homes, and which led to an increase in rents, says the report by the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights, Dunja Mijatovic, after the visit he made to Spain last November.
In addition, the rise in home ownership prices “far exceeds” the increase in purchasing power, adds Mijatovic in the document.
