The Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda will promote, through the state land entity (Sepes), the acquisition of 8.2 million square meters of unused land for a total of 514.3 million euros, according to reported in a statement.
A total of 50 actions are planned, which are part of the Affordable Rental Housing Plan.
The Defense land included in this initiative is distributed among municipalities in Andalusia, Aragon, Asturias, Cantabria, the Canary Islands, Catalonia, Castilla La Mancha, Castilla y León, Ceuta, Extremadura, Galicia, La Rioja, Madrid, Murcia, Melilla and Valencia.
‘Clash’ PP-PSOE
After learning of the approval of this measure, the municipal spokesperson for the PSOE and candidate for mayor, Daniel Farnández, has valued the project to build social housing on the La Remonta estate as a “great opportunity” for Santander that “will allow us to win the great green lung” that I was waiting for.
Fernández has applauded the inclusion of La Remonta in the Government’s affordable housing plan, with a housing projection that he considers “proportioned, balanced and dimensioned”.
The spokesman for the PP in the Santander City Council, Cesar Díaz, has replied by accusing him of demonstrating “anthological swallows”, when he recalled that Fernández has “always publicly defended a large green lung without homes” in La Remonta.
Díaz, who has not evaluated the housing project, has wondered “where is the credibility” of the PSOE candidate “who is not even capable of obtaining the support of his party for his proposals.” “Now he has had to back down, making it clear that he does not paint anything either as a spokesman for the PSOE or as a candidate for mayor,” said Díaz, number 2 of the PP candidacy for Santander City Council.
