Alicante (EFE).- The socialist candidate for mayor of Alicante, Ana Barceló (Sax, Alicante, 1959), explains to EFE that she lives “with passion” every moment of the campaign for the municipal elections on May 28 and claims that the Alicante capital is “a cosmopolitan city embraced by the sea”.
Minister of Health during the hardest years of the pandemic and current socialist trustee in Les Corts, Barceló returns to municipal politics – she was mayor of Sax for two legislatures, between 2003 and 2011 – faced with one of her biggest challenges: for the left to have the rod of command in Alicante, the traditional stronghold of the PP, which has governed 25 of the last 28 years.
