Madrid, May 8 (EFE) and they have insisted that they are not going to give “a blank check” nor are they going to facilitate a minority government of the PP.
Ortega Smith has participated this Monday in an informative breakfast organized by Europa Press in which he has said that the people of Madrid will decide how many areas of Government Vox should have based on the support they are given and has expressed that, “being realistic”, being able to obtain between one and ten councillors, he hopes they will be given eight councillors, double the number obtained in the previous elections, thanks to the fact that on this occasion they are presenting themselves having demonstrated “four years of loyalty and fulfilled principles”.
The Vox candidate has specified that he likes many areas such as “Treasury, because taxes have to be reduced; Sports, because we enter the base sport; Environment, because we have to get the North Campo House done; that of works because I love to see the streets fixed”, and he has pointed out that areas must be reduced, but any of the issues seems “fundamental” to him, as well as that of Security, making the Municipal Police go out to “clean of gangs and delinquency” the capital.
“I want them to give us strength, because we believe that we are the best guarantee, the only guarantee, that the left does not enter the Madrid City Council and the only one that the PP does what it promises that we all like: lower taxes or make homes, because for the PP to do something like that, the more strength Vox has, the more the PP will do”, he said.
The leader of Vox in the Consistory has added that after the elections neither PP nor Vox will have an absolute majority to govern, for which reason he will demand “a government agreement that will be fulfilled, as is largely fulfilled in Castile and Lion”.
In this sense, Ortega Smith has pointed out that, as the president of Vox, Santiago Abascal, assured last Friday, they are going to “ensure that the interests of our voters are respected” in all places where they are an alternative to the left.
Thus, he has reiterated that “they are going to demand to be in government, in some with more force than in others.”
In this way, he has assessed that Vox plans to also be able to enter the governments of Murcia, Ceuta and Melilla, Extremadura, Castilla La Mancha, Aragón, Valencia and the Balearic Islands, “in all of which it is expected that the sum can evict the left, that’s why the ball is in the PP”, he said, adding that “if the majority of citizens say that Vox is the force with the most votes, now you are obliged to help us”.
“We fight to have an absolute majority and execute 100 percent of our ideas, as we have our feet on the ground and we know that today it is not possible, what we propose to the PP is that in the face of this situation of lack of an absolute majority we arrive to a coalition agreement, I propose to dance a political chotis in Madrid because we are better than Rita Maestre or Reyes Maroto ”, he has settled.
Repeal Madrid 360
As for specific policies, Ortega Smith has said that he is going to defend “Freedom in mobility” and defends the repeal of the Madrid Central de Carmena and Madrid 360 of the current government, which he has described as “a fabulous collection machine”, assuring that Madrid “is at the head of the cities with the highest collection of fines.”
Ortega Smith has said that Madrid is “one of the cities with the best air quality, for more than ten years” and has explained that “removing very specific points, it has extraordinary air quality”, which is why he believes that the restrictions of traffic by zones “has been useless, the quality has neither improved nor worsened”.
“We depend on the drops and rises in pressure; More can be done, with more trees, so that public transport is less polluting, but imposing fines does not change the quality of the air”, he said.
In this matter, the Vox leader has proposed creating low emission zones only on days when episodes of high pollution and poor air quality are forecast, which, according to what he has stated, are between seven and twelve days a year.
